Digital Edition Individual Reflection Prompt

Overview

As outlined in the project description, up to 75 points of the 250 potential points allocated to this project will be awarded based on your individual contributions to the project. In determining how many points to award, I will draw upon my own observations about how you worked with your group, your team members’ evaluations of your contributions, and your self-evaluation.

Use this prompt as a guide to compose an individual reflection that provides a self-evaluation and evaluates your team members. Submit your individual reflection as a private (just between you and me) comment to this post using the “Whisper” function. Pro tip: you should compose your individual reflection in your wordprocessor of choice, then copy and paste it into the comment box. That way you have a saved back up if anything goes wrong during the submission process.

Be sure to check the box next to “Whisper to blog author(s) (content will not be displayed after submission if you are not registered),” so that your individual reflection will remain confidential between you and me.

Individual Evaluation

Describe your contributions to the project. What did you do? What was your role on the team? How did your efforts and contributions compare to those of your team members? Are there extenuating circumstances I should take into account when evaluating your contributions? If you feel comfortable doing so, give yourself a grade or other general, summative assessment (excellent, fair, meeting expectations) and explain your rationale for giving yourself that assessment.

Team Member Evaluations

Describe your team members’ contributions to the project. What did they do do? What were their roles on the team? How did each person’s efforts and contributions compare to those of the other team members? Are there extenuating circumstances I should take into account when evaluating a particular member’s contributions? If you feel comfortable doing so, give each team member a grade or other general, summative assessment (excellent, fair, meeting expectations) and explain your rationale for giving each person that assessment.

Reflection on Learning Outcomes

Finally, review the section, “What Can I Expect to Learn?,” on the Syllabus and consider how this project contributed to your individual fulfillment of the desired learning outcomes for the class. What did this project contribute to your individual understanding of Chaucer’s work, life, and historical context? What did it add to your understanding of medieval modes of cultural production and their relationship to contemporary practice? What did the project add to your understanding of how media and technology affect the production and dissemination of cultural artifacts and communication?
